ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

DEVYN DUEX (Founder/President & Artistic Director), named as one of the Top Women in Business by the Pacific Coast Business Times, has an eclectic background performing extensively in the United States as a dancer/ actress/singer on stage and in film/TV. Devyn has performed with the James Sewell Ballet, Straw Hat Players, The Pittsburgh Playhouse, Cabrillo Music Theater, Buena Vida Productions, Universal Pictures, American Entertainment, Moorhead State University, Cabrillo Music Theater, Skits Outreach Company, and more. With her prior dance company, Universal Dance based in LA, she performed at over 200 events in two years; performing in the US/Internationally. As a choreographer, Devyn has had the opportunity to work with the Pittsburgh Playhouse, Pittsburgh Playhouse Junior, Straw Hat Players, and Fargo Elementary School choreographing for the Theater. Since moving to Santa Barbara in 2003, Devyn has dedicated her energy to modern dance, working with Motion Theater Dance Company, SonneBlauma Danscz Theater, and independent choreographers: Marcos Duran, Heather Shea, and Nicole Helton “As We Are”. Her new work “Release” was debuted in 2008 & 2009 in collaboration with the Fusion Dance Company’s show Intertwine and Daughter of Zion Dance Company’s show Je’ Taime, and reworked in 2012-2013 into a six section piece debuted under Nebula, as its fourth original new work ‘Sand Into Glass’ in 2012 and 2013 to sold out houses. In 2015 she was proud to premiere Nebula’s 9th new original work Push & Pull in collaboration with choreographer Shelby Lynn Joyce, ‘If Strangers Weren’t Strangers’ a comedic work exploring social interaction, and most recently collaborated to choreograph a scene in Through the Looking Glass. Devyn holds a BA in Theater Arts- Musical Theater from Point Park University and an MBA/MKT degree from the University of Phoenix. She is a member of SAG and AFTRA. Devyn would like to thank her husband Shawn for his continued support, and her two children for their constant examples of movement expression and unconditional love.

IN 2021 Devyn was one of 10 women in Santa Barbara county to receive the 2021 Spirit of Entrepreneurship Award.

CHOREOGRAPHER

CHLOE ROBERTS (Choreographer/Dancer), Chloé Grace Roberts is a New York City-based dancer, educator, and choreographer. Roberts earned her BA in History from Fort Lewis College, her MA from Boston College, and is currently a PhD candidate at UC Santa Barbara.  She was the recipient of the Franco-American Fulbright Fellowship in Paris for the 2021-2022 year, and has choreographed and performed internationally for the past 12 years. Company work includes Urbanity Dance Company (Boston, MA), Selah Dance Collective (Santa Barbara, CA), Nebula Dance Lab  (Santa Barbara, CA), The Prague Shakespeare Company (Prague, Czech Republic), PMT Dance Company (NYC), and Reject Dance Theatre (New York City).  As associate artistic director for the New York City branch of Selah Dance Collective, she recently co-produced an evening-length performance at Gibney Dance with dancers from throughout the United States. Recent theater productions include Chicago (Liz and Dance Captain), American Psycho (Choreographer), Grease (Cha-Cha and Dance Captain), How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying (Choreographer), Marilyn Exposed (ensemble), and High Society (Mavis and dance captain). A sought-after choreographer for both competition, theater, and concert stages, Roberts travels nationally and internationally as a dance educator and adjudicator. She is a judge and member of Impact Dance Adjudicators, as well as a proud member of Actor’s Equity Association. She is represented by Lakey Wolff at Lakey Wolff & Co in NYC.

COMPANY MANAGER

Ashley Kohler Reynolds (Company Manager) is a Santa Barbara based Dancer and Instructor. She has been performing with Nebula Dance Lab for seven seasons, and has acted as Rehearsal Director for two. She is also a Company Member of local Contemporary Dance Company, Selah Dance Collective, under the direction of Meredith Ventura. Aside from performing, Ashley also has a passion for teaching. She has been on staff at Los Olivos Dance Gallery for 15 years, and also teaches in local schools through Children’s Creative Project.

COMPANY MANAGER

Meredith Ventura (Lighting Designer/Dancer) graduated with honors from the University of California, Santa Barbara, with a B.F.A. in Dance. During her studies, she traveled to Tel Aviv, Israel, to study with Batsheva Dance Company. Ms. Ventura received her M.F.A. in dance at Hollins University in collaboration with the Künstlerhaus Mousonturm, Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt am Main, and The Dresden Frankfurt Dance Company (formerly the Forsythe Company) and is now pursuing a Ph.D. in Theater, Dance, and Performance Studies at UC Santa Barbara. As the founder and artistic director of Selah Dance Collective, Ms. Ventura has produced full evening-length performances and presented works throughout the United States and abroad, most recently in France, Estonia, Norway, Finland, and Italy. She travels nationally and internationally as a dance educator and advocate for the arts and most recently, she was named the Professional Track program director at State Street Ballet. Meredith has worked with Nebula Dance Lab since 2015 as a dance artist and collaborator.

Amanda Keller (Principal Dancer)

Amanda Keller is a current artist based out of Santa Barbara, California, and has jump started her professional career with the help of Selah Dance Collective. After graduating magna cum laude in Exercise Science and Dance Performance from Grand Canyon University, she began dancing with Sespe Dance Co. near her hometown in Ventura County. This led to her first professional series of performances at the Re:LIVE performance series in Downtown Santa Barbara, which catapulted her forward in her artistic and choreographic work with the company. Most recently, she had the opportunity of presenting her group piece “Human” for Selah’s spring show “The end of the end of the World”, and looks forward to performing as well as choreographing for the company again soon. Amanda’s movement style and choreographic choices have been heavily impacted by summer intensives with companies such as Los Angeles Contemporary Dance Company and festivals such as the American College Dance Association. After choreographing work with GCU that was presented at the Herberger Festival of the Arts and performing in seven formal dance concerts with Ethington Dance Ensemble, Amanda is always grateful for an opportunity to take the stage. She is thrilled to be working with Nebula Dance Lab this season and looks forward to continuing dancing and creating for as long as she can. 

Ashley Kohler Reynolds

Ashley has been a member of the Santa Barbara Dance community for over 13 years. In this time, she has danced with several Companies and Choreographers such Selah Dance Collective, Robin Bisio, Weslie Ching, Dancers by Design Project, and Nebula Dance Lab. Ashley is also a Dance Instructor for Los Olivos Dance Gallery and Arts Outreach in the Santa Ynez Valley.

Daisy Mohrmann
(Company Member)

Daisy hails from San Jose, California and received her BA in Dance from Chapman University. She has since served Shieldwall Dance Company (LA), BrockusRED Co. (LA), SBCC Dance Company (SB), Weslie Ching (SB), Selah Dance Collective (SB), and Nebula Dance Lab in various capacities including performer, rehearsal director, booking manager, and company manager. She has received awards for both choreography and performance, including the SB Independent’s Indy award for Emerging Dancer in 2017.

Rachyl Pines
(Company Member)

Rachyl moved to Santa Barbara to pursue a PhD in Communication at UCSB. Credits include: City Ballet of San Diego (3 years); George Balanchine’s Walpurgisnacht, the company’s productions of The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Romeo and Juliette, Firebird and Giselle. Selah Dance Collective (Something Like the Desert) and Nebula Dance Lab (Through the Looking Glass). Additional credits: Shelby Lynn Joyce (Individuation) and Monique Meunier (Memory of Hope) and George Balanchine’s Agon and Who Cares. Rachyl is excited about this being her fourth season with Nebula Dance Lab.

Nathan Burdine-Ortega
(Company Member)

A Santa Barbara native, graduated from UCSB with a BFA of Fine Arts in Dance, choreography emphasis. Training in a variety of styles including ballet, modern, jazz, gymnastics and diving. Performing US and Abroad. Credits include: The Wade Robson Projects (MTV), Music videos (credits vary), Europe (Prague and Italy) UCSB Senior Dance Company. Choreography credits include colleges CA, WA, AZ, creating works to bring joy, comedy and thoughtful art to the minds of audience members. Nathan also teaches throughout Ventura and Orange County.

Emily McKinney
(Company Member)

Emily is from the Bay Area California, studied at the Gelsey Kirkland Academy of Classical Ballet in New York City, Alonzo King LINES Ballet, and Boston Ballet.  Through Emily's extensive training she has developed skills in classical ballet, contemporary dance, and musical theater. She graduated magna cum laude from Dominican University in 2018, with a BFA from the Alonzo King LINES Ballet program and a minor in Communications. After graduating, she joined State Street Ballet's Professional Track where she performed with the company in Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker, Evenings, and American Masters. Emily joined the company as an apprentice in 2020.  This is Emily’s first performance with Nebula Dance Lab and is truly thrilled to be dancing alongside such lovely dancers.

Monique Nadeau
(Company Member)

Originally from Orange County, Monique moved to Santa Barbara in 2003 and has been a multidisciplinary dancer in the community with credits including UCSB Dance Team, Rhythm Street Team, and Fusion Dance Company. Her current works include SELAH Dance Collective, and this will be her fifth season with Nebula Dance Lab. Monique spends her days as a Labor & Delivery nurse at Cottage Hospital.

Bianca Salazar
(Company Member)

A Southern California local, Bianca began her dance training at the Academy of the Performing Arts in Huntington Beach, CA. She received her BFA in Dance from the University of California, Santa Barbara where she was granted the Corwin Award for Best Choreography. She is a current sixth year company member with Selah Dance Collective and sits on the board of directors. Bianca is also the co- artistic director of Sespe Dance Company. This is her third season dancing with Nebula Dance Lab.

Nicole Thompson
(Costume Designer)

Nicole is from Santa Barbara and has a BA in Apparel Design and Merchandising and a BA in Business Administration from San Francisco State University. Credits include: Wardrobe Director for State Street Ballet, including designing and creating costumes for The Nutcracker, Don Quixote, Women’s Work, An American Tango, Modern Masters, Mozart's Requiem and the SSB Summer Intensive. She has had the opportunity to work with Nebula Dance, Santa Barbara Dance Theatre, Santa Barbara City College, Westside Dance, Santa Barbara Junior High and other local artists.

GUEST PERFORMERS

Arianna Hartanov

Arianna is from Denver, CO, trained with Pacific Northwest Ballet, Houston Ballet, Oregon Ballet Theater, and Kansas City Ballet. She then joined State Street Ballet’s Professional Track Program, where she had the opportunity to work with Kassandra Taylor Newberry, Kevin Jenkins, Edgar Zendejas, and Autumn Eckman. Arianna joined SSB as an apprentice in 2018 and was promoted to full company member in 2019. Since joining the company, some of her favorite moments have been choreographing for Modern Masters and performing as Carabosse in The Sleeping Beauty.

Karyn Laver

The Dance Network is a dance and fitness studio in Santa Barbara, CA, under the direction of Karyn Laver. We offer classes in tap, jazz, hip hop, contemporary, ballet, and more to students of all ages, abilities, and experience levels. OFFICE ADMINISTRATION

MEGAN MORELLI (Office Administration) was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, where she took her first dance class at age three and hasn't stopped dancing since. She completed her college education with a minor in dance at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and hopes to someday return to earn and MFA in dance. While at Cal Poly, Meghan danced and choreographed with the Orchesis Dance Company, for which she received several rewards; the Sonia Sandoval Memorial Reward for her passion in dance, the Moon Ja Minn and Paul T. Suhr Most Deserving Dance Student Award, for her dedication to the company, and the Tomczac-Carter Award for her outstanding performances. Meghan danced alongside some of the greatest collegiate choreographers and dancers on the west coast at the America College Dance Festival during her senior year. After graduation she danced with Variable Velocity Performance Group under the direction of Diana Stanton and Jude Clark Warnisher in San Luis Obispo. Meghan is a new resident of Santa Barbara, where she teaches dance to many great young dancers at Studio B in Carpinteria. She is blessed to have this opportunity to dance with Nebula Dance Lab and join their creative collaboration.
